Gonnella Baking Expansion

This 58,000 square foot expansion to Gonnella Baking’s Aurora facility significantly increased production capacity to meet growing national demand. The addition included a state-of-the-art bread and bun line that boosted throughput by more than 60%, with buns produced at a rate of 800 pieces per minute. The design also allows for future capacity doubling, supporting long-term growth. The expansion involved remodeling the existing bakery and reconfiguring production lines to accommodate a wider range of hearth breads and rolls, including baguettes, French, and Italian varieties. The facility also features a 40,000 square foot central packaging department housing 10 lines, including bread, bun, individually wrapped products, and roll lines, all designed for efficient and flexible packaging operations. Strategically located in Aurora, the facility provides excellent access to I-88 via the IL-56/French Road interchange, I-55 via the Galena Boulevard interchange, and IL-59, facilitating efficient regional distribution and logistics.
